Paul Bedal is a pianist and composer based in Chicago, Il.
This quintet formed in 2012 in Chicago consisting of trumpet, alto sax, piano, double bass and drums.
After relocating to Chicago via Miami in 2011, Paul met met drummer Charles Rumback (of Whirlpool, Colorlist, Stirrup) and saxophonist Caroline Davis (of Zing!, Tomorrow Music Orchestra, Pedway, Fatbook, Whirlpool). During this year, the foundation of the group’s sound was formed playing various gigs and recording in the Chicagoland area.
In 2012, Matt Ulery (Loom, Into the Ivory) and Marquis Hill (2013 Carmine Caruso trumpet competition winner) rounded out the group to form what is now called the Paul Bedal Quintet. The result of their musical collaboration is the album, Chatter.
Chatter, is an acoustic album featuring compositions by Bedal. It is dense with rhythm and harmony demanding concentration to the ink, however the group has molded into a cohesive unit tackling each composition methodically and each maintaining their unique musical voice throughout.
